Inverse cascade in percolation model: hierarchical description of time-dependent scaling

چکیده
The dynamics of a 2D site percolation model on a square lattice is studied using the hierarchical approach introduced by Gabrielov et al., Phys. Rev. E, 60, 5293-5300, 1999. The key elements of the approach are the tree representation of clusters and their coalescence, and the Horton-Strahler scheme for cluster ranking. Accordingly, the evolution of percolation model is considered as a hierarchical inverse cascade of cluster aggregation. A three-exponent time-dependent scaling for the cluster rank distribution is derived using the Tokunaga branching constraint and classical results on percolation in terms of cluster masses. Deviations from the pure scaling are described. An empirical constraint on the dynamics of a rank population is reported based on numerical simulations.

Inverse cascade in a percolation model: hierarchical description of time-dependent scaling.
The dynamics of a two-dimensional site percolation model on a square lattice is studied using the hierarchical approach introduced by Gabrielov [Phys. Rev. E 60, 5293 (1999)]. The key elements of the approach are the tree representation of clusters and their coalescence, and the Horton-Strahler scheme for cluster ranking. متن کاملHierarchical aggregation in percolation model
There is a growing belief that the complex dynamics of seismicity can be better understood by studying the collective behavior of numerous lithosphere instability sources rather than focusing on the details of each of them. Classical site-percolation is a simple and tractable model which exhibits such important general features of complex systems as criticality and phase transitions of second k...

The Scaling Law for the Discrete Kinetic Growth Percolation Model The critical exponent of the total number of finite clusters α is calculated directly without using scaling hypothesis both below and above the percolation threshold pc based on a kinetic growth percolation model in two and three dimensions. Simultaneously, we can calculate other critical exponents β and γ, and show that the scal...
متن کاملWater Flooding Performance Evaluation Using Percolation Theory
Water flooding is a well-known secondary mechanism for improving oil recovery. Conventional approach to evaluate the performance of a water flooding process (e.g. breakthrough and post breakthrough behavior) is to establish a reliable geological reservoir model, upscale it, and then perform flow simulations. To evaluate the uncertainty in the breakthrough time or post breakthrough behavior, thi...
متن کاملGeneralized Statistical Models of Voids and Hierarchical Structure in Cosmology
Generalized statistical models of voids and hierarchical structure in cosmology are developed. The often quoted negative binomial model and the frequently used thermodynamic model are shown to be special cases of a more general distribution that contains a parameter a. This parameter is related to the Lévy index and the Fisher critical exponent , the latter of which describes the power-law fall...
